VIDA Project is Católica's new volunteer programme

Universidade Católica Portuguesa has a new volunteering programme. The VIDA Project is aimed at students of all levels of education at the UCP Headquarters campus who wish to volunteer. There are already more than 360 students enrolled since the beginning of the academic year.

Aimed at providing students with volunteering opportunities that contribute to the community, the project was officially launched in the 2022/2023 academic year, and applications are still open.

The volunteering activities available are as diverse as the partner institutions, from study support to fundraising campaigns, rubbish collection or distribution of meals. Ajuda de Mãe, the Jesuit Refugee Service and Comunidade Vida e Paz are some of the associations that are part of this project.

Organized in partnership between the Social Responsibility Office (GRS) and the UCP's Chaplaincy, the VIDA Project foresees the complete accompaniment of volunteers, from their registration to their training and integration in the different institutions.

"UCP understands volunteering as a formative process that adds value to the community," explains Rita Paiva e Pona, coordinator of the Social Responsibility Office of UCP. She also mentions that the university "assumes the commitment to add value to organizations and initiatives of recognized social interest, whose vision is aligned with the mission of UCP: to promote the integral formation of the person, oriented to the global reality, based on the principles of truth and respect for people and the environment.
