UCP President welcomes new students: “This is the day of change”

“Feel the University as a space of freedom. A respectful, welcoming space where questions should be asked freely.” It was with these words that the President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa welcomed the new students of the Faculty of Human Sciences of the UCP.

At the welcoming ceremony for the new undergraduate students in 2022/23, Isabel Capeloa Gil said that “this is the day of change. The beginning of a path in a different University, which has been making a difference in higher education in Portugal.”

To new students, the UCP President mentioned that “we are a University that gives back to society and that the next three years will be defining for the rest of their lives”, remembering that “our success is measured to the extent that we can inspire others to be as successful or more successful than we are.”

In addition to the participation of Isabel Capeloa Gil, who closed the session, in the Cardeal Medeiros auditorium were also present the alumnae of FCH da Católica, Maria João Almeida, advisor to the secretary of state for equality and Irina Shev, journalist of SIC who shared with the students their experiences and relationship with the University where they graduated.

On the morning of September 6th, integration activities will take place in partnership with Unlimited Future. In the afternoon, students are invited to participate in a voluntary activity within the scope of the FCH Solidarity project. The activity, which will include the participation of students, faculty and faculty ambassadors, aims to contribute to a more sustainable environment.
