"Responsible leadership can be the leadership of the future" reveals study by CATÓLICA-LISBON

"One of the main barriers to the implementation of responsible leadership continues to be the cost involved and the investment it requires". This is one of the conclusions of the study "Responsible Leadership: What is it and what path for Portugal?" by the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership of CATÓLICA-LISBON.

Presented at the conference "Responsible Leadership for a Portugal with Future", held as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty, the study aimed to identify the differentiating characteristics of responsible leadership, in itself and in comparison to other leadership styles, and to understand the Portuguese public's perception of this theme.

The study reveals that responsible leadership is "seen as the most viable long-term solution, and as essential for any business aiming to be sustainable."

It was also verified "that the role of the organisation's employees appears to be crucial for the success of the implementation of sustainable and responsible measures. Thus, a motivated team that believes in the company's values, mission and purpose becomes essential".

Another of the findings points to the fact that "responsible leadership is seen as the right way forward, as well as the most viable way to ensure the long-term survival of the company."

From the interviews with leaders, it was concluded that "responsible leadership can thus match the leadership of the future."
