NICE_Lab launches the initiative "Meetings by NICE_Lab" where each member presents a guest who will discuss topics within their research lines. These are internal events, dedicated to members and doctoral and master's students of the Institute of Health Sciences.
In this context, the meeting "The importance of play and sport in child development" will take place on April 21st, at 3pm, with the participation of Miguel Nery, Ana Maria Abreu's guest.
Miguel Nery is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. His areas of interest are clinical and developmental psychology, psychopathology, bullying, play, child motricity and sport. PhD in Human Kinetics, in the scientific area of Psychology and Motor Behavior, he is the author of Bullying in Youth Sports Training: New perspectives and practical strategies (with Carlos Neto, António Rosado and Peter K. Smith. Routledge, 2020). In recent years he has worked in research-action projects for the prevention of violence and abuse in sport (European Union/Council of Europe and Government of Portugal), being integrated in international networks of researchers such as "Global Research Alliance. Improving the lives of young people" and the "Pool of International Experts on Safe Sport - EPAAS, Council of Europe". He is Assistant Professor, Research Director and Coordinator of the PhD in Psychology of the European University. He develops his clinical practice in Self - Psychology and Psychotherapy.
