FAQS 3 | Regime Access Conditions
3. General Regime Access Conditions
The application process can begin without the final scores (without the submission of secondary education form or foreign diploma and certificate of equivalence to Portuguese high school education, whichever is applicable); however, only applicants who submit the ENES form/foreign diploma and certificate of equivalence to Portuguese high school education, whichever is applicable, before the application deadline will be considered. Those who fail to do so will receive the result of "Excluded" and will be moved automatically to the next phase (should there be one), and do not need to apply again or pay for a second application.
You must sit the national admission exams of the subjects required for the programme(s) you wish to apply for. If you are an applicant with a foreign diploma, you must do the missing exam in the context of the diploma you have attended.
Most programmes calculate the application score as follows (on a 0-200 scale):
60 % |
Final score of secondary education or legally equivalent qualification |
40 % |
National exam(s) Where two exams are required, 20% for each |
Example of how to calculate the application score
For a degree in which the entrance examinations are Portuguese and History:
Applicant A obtained a final mark of 130 in secondary education, 150 in the national examination of the subject of Portuguese and 120 in the national examination of the subject of History.
To obtain the application score, the scores are multiplied by their respective weight, i.e:
(130 x 0,6) + (150 x 0,2) + (120 x 0.2) = 132
Calculate your application score here:
In order to be admitted through the general system, you must cumulatively fulfill the following conditions:
- Completion of secondary education or its equivalent. If you attended a foreign secondary education, this equivalence is proven through the equivalence certificate.
- Having valid admission exam(s) results required for the programme(s).
In addition, some programmes, such as Nursing, Medicine and Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics International Undergraduate Programmes, have specific prerequisites.
