ICS Professor publishes book at the invitation of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation

The new essay of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, Mind, Brain and Education, authored by Joana Rato, was launched on 27 January, and addresses the issues of brain and mind that are usually complex to connect with education and that easily lead to exaggerated expectations.

Broadening scientific dissemination and updating teacher training are some of the suggestions launched in this essay so that transdisciplinary science can find applicability.

To reflect on these issues, the author had a conversation with Adriana Sampaio, director of the Neuropsychophysiology Laboratory at the University of Minho, and Pedro Cunha, director of the Gulbenkian Knowledge Programme, moderated by the writer Filipa Melo, in which the current challenges of teaching, misunderstandings and the distance between research and educational practice were debated.
