Faculty of Human Sciences Director renews mandate: "an important and happy moment for the university"
Nelson Ribeiro renewed his mandate as Director of the Faculty of Human Sciences (FCH), in a ceremony at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa headquarters, in Lisbon, in which the members of the new FCH board, Alexandra Lopes, Ana Margarida Abrantes, Catarina Duff Burnay, Susana Costa Ramalho and Jorge dos Santos Alves, took office.
"An important and happy moment for the university," stated Universidade Católica Portuguesa's President, Isabel Capeloa Gil, adding that this reappointment comes after "the mandates of Professor Nelson Ribeiro brought about a recognized growth of Católica in the national and international scientific systems".
Isabel Capeloa Gil also expressed that the FCH "is, with pride, one of the largest faculties of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, among the most dynamic and with greater academic and scientific recognition". The President of Católica hopes that the new direction will continue to "innovate, promote people and develop scientific work of excellence", noting that the faculty in question is one of the four with an excellent research centre in the University.
Director of the FCH since January 2016, Nelson Ribeiro said that "it has been a privilege to exercise these functions", giving special emphasis to the "construction, creation, restructuring of courses, projects and initiatives" that he believes contribute to ensuring that the FCH "continues to be a school of reference in the areas of humanities and social sciences".
Regarding the priorities for the next term, he mentioned the strengthening of internationalization, the new master's degrees with European and North American universities, and the consolidation of the faculty's research centres. He also highlighted the continuous improvement of the new courses already launched, the degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and the PhD in Psychology: Emotions and Well-Being, and the plan to create "new teaching offers that bring innovation to Portuguese higher education".
Both the UCP's President and the FCH's Director expressed their gratitude to the faculty's team of staff, professors, researchers, and students, in a ceremony with a room full of colleagues and friends of the inductees.
