CAPACITAR4LACTENTE project wins BPI "la Caixa" Foundation Childhood 2022 Award

The CAPACITAR4LACTENTE project, led by the Católica Nursing Centre (CEC) of the School of Nursing of the Institute of Health Sciences, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, was one of the winners of the BPI "la Caixa" Foundation Children 2022 Award.

The winning project will be implemented under the coordination of the CEC among the population supported by Ajuda de Mãe Association, particularly assisted by its Centres located in Lisbon, Loures and Queluz, and is intended to support populations in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability. 

This population was identified, in articulation with Ajuda de Mãe, with an indication for the implementation of a community action project to support the "Mother - Child in the first year of life" dyad, given the need for continuity of responses and preponderance of interventions for the promotion of the acquisition/consolidation of parental skills in vulnerable populations in situations of social risk.

Designed to have a multi-municipal scope of action in the Greater Lisbon region, where the headquarters of the University is established, the "CAPACITAR4LACTENTE" project counts on the partnership of Ajuda de Mãe, Associação de Apoio à Saúde and Associação Portuguesa dos Consultores de Lactação Certificados.

The 3 social economy organisations are also based in Lisbon and share experience, knowledge and action in the areas of promotion of parenting skills, including breastfeeding.
