Summer school "Religion and Culture: readings of the Pauline «revolution»"

The Faculty of Theology of the Universidade Católica is organizing the Summer School "Religion and Culture: readings of the Pauline "revolution"" starting on 31 May.

The online programme aims to contextualize Pauline thought, understand the influence of Paul's legacy on the construction of Western Christianity, and identify the ways in which Pauline thought is received in contemporary culture.

The sessions take place on 31 May, 7, 14, 21 and 28 June. Register by 17 May.

"The decreasing dominance of the MPLA in Angola's party system"

UCP Editora is presenting the book "O domínio decrescente do MPLA no sistema partidário em Angola (2008-2022)" by Carlos Pacatolo on 10 April at 17h30.

The event will be opened by Anabela Antunes and the book will be presented by Manuel Braga da Cruz.

The closing speech will be given by Augusto Aguiar-Branco and the author of the book, Carlos Pacatolo, will be thanked.

The Faculty of Theology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising the 13th Practical Theology Conference, dedicated to the theme ‘Called to Freedom: On the Pretext of April’.

It will take place on 10 and 11 May and will feature Luís M. Figueiredo Rodrigues, José Pedro Angélico, Alex Villas Boas, Juan Ambrosio, Paulo Fontes and Pedro Falcão.

D. Rui Valério desafia novos bispos a atenção especial pelos «mais frágeis e pobres»

O patriarca D. Rui Valério presidiu hoje à ordenação episcopal de D. Nuno Isidro e D. Alexandre Palma, auxiliares de Lisboa, que convidou a “sentir a alma dos mais simples, dos mais pobres, dos excluídos”.

D. Alexandre Palma, por sua vez, assumiu como projeto episcopal “fazer caminho”, como Jesus caminhou, “levando todo o mundo em si e levando todo o mundo consigo”.

O responsável saudou ainda as autoridades presentes, que convidou a trabalhar em conjunto pelo “bem comum”.

O novo presidente da Fundação JMJ Lisboa 2023 referiu ainda o objetivo de “fazer muito bem a muitos jovens”.

Book launch "Lições da Pandemia, Aprender com uma experiência limite"

The book "Lições da Pandemia, Aprender com uma experiência limite" (Lessons of the Pandemic, Learning from a boundary experience) of the collection Povos e Culturas, coordinated by Américo Pereira and Fernando Ilharco, is launched on May 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the headquarters of Universidade Católica.

Isabel Capeloa Gil, Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, will present the book published by UCP Press

The event will also feature a round table with Admiral Gouveia e Melo, Head of the Navy, Ema Paulino, President of the National Association of Pharmacies, and Germano de Sousa, Director and Founder of the Germano de Sousa Clinical Pathology Laboratories Group.

Opening session of the 2023/2024 academic year

The Faculty of Theology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising the opening session of the new academic year, which will take place on September 29 at 11.30am at the Porto Regional Centre.

The session, entitled "A theology of paths that rethinks the paths of theology", will be moderated by José Pedro Angélico, with the participation of Joana Gomes and José Rui Teixeira.

The session can also be attended in person in Braga and Lisbon. All the Faculty's students, staff and teachers are invited to watch the broadcast in the Isidro Alves Auditorium on the Braga campus and in Auditorium 3 (Old Building) on the Lisbon campus.

This event will feature a presentation by Anabela Antunes, Director of UCP Editora and the participation of Nelson Ribeiro, Director of the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University, as well as the presence of the author, Frei António Estêvão.
