On April 28, at 5:00pm, the Faculty of Human Sciences invites James Stewart - Lecturer in Science Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh for an OpenClass. 

This session, organized by Professor Luís Soares, takes place in the scope of the Master in Communication Studies and is open to the entire academic community.

This OpenLecture will take place in Room 121 at the Faculty of Human Sciences. 

James Stewart is a Lecturer in Science Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh. With a background in engineering studies, he transitioned to the social studies of technology just as the World Wide Web was launched, and has researched, analysed and educated on the internet phenomenon ever since. Has worked in topics of digital social inclusion and exclusion, including a spell in the European Commission, on the design and innovation processes at firm and national level in Europe and China, studied family and workplace appropriation of ICTs, attempts to create and exploit ‘data’ in smart cities and living labs , and more recently the rise of computational modelling and “AI” phenomenon.

On May 5, at 2:00 p.m., the Careers Office of the Faculty of Human Sciences will hold a workshop on "How to prepare for a job interview".

In this workshop, delivered in english, we work through the various stages of an interview, analyze possible questions and answers, and discuss strategies that will help you to stand out and make a great first impression.

With the theme "Dove Real Beauty - 20 Years of Solid Brand Purpose", the Master's Degree in Communication Sciences of the  Faculty of Human Sciences, is holding its sixth MCC Talk on December 14.

Aimed at the Communication, Marketing and Advertising area and moderated by Patrícia Tavares, this talk invites Marta Quelhas, Head of Marketing Personal Care and Beauty & Wellbeing, Unilever Fima.

The Careers Office of the Faculty of Human Sciences is organising the workshop "Digital communication", as part of the cycle of workshops on employability, on 26 April at 14:30 p.m..

This session will be held in English.

In this event, the students will focus on issues of identity and digital interactions in the workplace and learn how to use digital tools in a professional context in this increasingly technological world.

Registration is free but mandatory.

On May 14th, at 5pm (WET), the FCH OpenSession for the PhD in Psychology: Emotions and Wellbeing will take place online.

The OpenSession consists of a session in which the PhD program starting in September 2024 will be presented. Those interested should register for this session where they can clarify all their doubts.

To commemorate World Radio Day, celebrated on 13 February, Quase FM, the student radio station of the Faculty of Human Sciences at UCP, is organising a special programme with the participation of UCP alumni and Radio hosts: Teresa Oliveira (RR), Renato Duarte (RR), Cristina Nascimento (informação Renascença), Pilar Lourenço (MegaHits), Rodrigo Gomes (RFM) and Ana Colaço (RFM).  

The commemorative broadcast, which will take place from 3.30pm to 5pm, will also feature presenter Renato Duarte (RR).

On March 13, at 5:00 pm, the FCH OpenSession of the Master and PhD in Culture Studies will take place in virtual format.

The OpenSession is an open and informative session where the Master and Doctoral program starting in September 2024 will be presented.

On April 18, the Faculty of Human Sciences is organizing another edition of MyCareer, an event that aims to promote the connection between the faculty's students and the job market. "Be an entrepreneur" is this year's theme.

The event will feature an opening session on the current job market and two round tables, the first on entrepreneurship in Portugal and the second with testimonies from young entrepreneurs.

At the end of the afternoon, students will also have the opportunity to visit the Employment & Talent stands.

PROGRAMME

On the October 26, the Graduation and Diploma Award Ceremony will take place at the Auditório Cardeal Medeiros at 10:15 am.

Reaching the end of a degree programme is inevitably a source of great pride and satisfaction for all new Undergraduate Degree holders, as it is indeed for the Faculty where they undertook their studies.

The ceremony on October 26 is thus intended to bear witness to this joyful occasion and to the public recognition of successfully attained goals.

From 3 to 4 October, Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) will be organizing a conference about Italo Calvino, its literary works and relationship with the world.
