The Auditions for Admission to the Universidade Católica Portuguesa Choir for the 2024-25 academic year will take place on 26 September from 18:00 to 19:00 and on 9 October from 17:00 to 19:00.

The Choir is directed by Maestro Sérgio Peixoto and holds rehearsals every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm in the Cardinal Medeiros Auditorium.

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa Choir joins Staccato Choir for a Christmas concert on December 12, at 4 p.m., at the church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, in Carnide.

It will be a musical journey through different sound eras, starting with traditional Iberian music, with Menino dormindo and El Noi de la Mare. This will be followed by the musical pieces Here I am Lord and For the beauty of the earth. 

The lighter, jazzy ambience of Joshua's Blues, Run Shepherds and Mary had a baby transport us to more recent times, where the Christmas theme is expressed in complex rhythms, modern and global soundscapes.

"In these times of doubt and difficulty, let us do as the shepherds did in Bethlehem...let us run to see the child lying in the straws, in simplicity and in the expectation of the universal brotherhood felt and evoked in these and other musical works we will be presenting," invites Sérgio Peixoto, artistic director of the UCP choir.
