5th CAtolic REsearch Meeting: CARE beyond academia

Universidade Católica Portuguesa organizes the 5th edition of the CAtólica REsearch Meeting, the annual event dedicated to research at Católica, on September 15, at the Católica Medical School, in Sintra.

This meeting, organized within the framework of CARE: CAtólica REsearch, brings together the 15 Research Units of Católica of Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viseu.

Dedicated to the theme "CARE Beyond Academia", this year's event aims to function as a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices and developing innovative solutions, seeking to contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable and interconnected future.

CADOS Research Ethics and Integrity | 2023

Católica Doctoral School (CADOS) is organising a training programme on 20, 21 and 22 November, coordinated by Mara Sousa Freitas.

This program intends to:

  • Present research ethics and integrity as the way to promote research aims, to improve the impact and quality of knowledge, and protect the rights of research participants.
  • Teach about the principles, values, virtues, norms, and guidelines of research ethics & integrity.
  • Promote scientific and academic integrity and enhance research validity.
  • Empower participants in the ethical procedures of scientific research.
  • Train participants in the use of self-assessment ethics tools.

T4EU | How to make science more engaging and sociable?

Transform4Europe is hosting an online Training & Experiences Sharing Session on "How to make science more engaging and sociable?" on April 15. Aimed at PhD students, researchers and staff from T4EU's partner universities, this training session takes place on Microsoft Teams from 8:00 to 14:45.

The session consists of two parts. The first part is dedicated to citizen science and will focus on the presentation of its concept and main principles, limitations and problems that could be encountered during citizen science projects. The trainers will also share their experience in implementing citizen science projects or related activities in different countries and universities.

The second part is dedicated to improving science communication competencies. The program comprises theoretical and practical approaches, covering topics such as the complexity of science communication, ethics in the field, navigating visual misinformation, and utilizing social media tools for effective communication. Led by experts from various institutions, the program aims to enhance participants' skills in conveying scientific information and navigating the challenges of communication in today's diverse media landscape.

The reminder about The Training & Experiences Sharing Session together with login reference will be sent to all registered participants approximately 3–5 days before the event. The Training & Experiences Sharing Session will be recorded.

Peter Hanenberg is the guest speaker at the conference "O Canto do Papão Lusitano" (1967) by Peter Weiss

The Cátedra Cascais Interartes, of the D.Luís I Foundation, is holding a Webinar on "O Canto do Papão Lusitano" (1967), with the participation of Peter Hanenberg, Vice-Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, whose PhD dissertation focused on the work of Peter Weiss, the play's author.

The conference will take place in digital format on 11 November at 17h00.

Peter Weiss is one of the most important playwrights on the post-World War II German literary scene. His work in this field includes The Song of the Lusitanian Boogeyman (1967), celebrated for its anti-fascist and anti-colonial political dimension.
