Equality on the Horizon: Advancing Gender Equality in Decision-Making, final conference and presentation of results of the EQUAL Leadership Programme will take place on October 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

This event, which is open to all those interested in attending, will be held in person in Lisbon, with the additional option of virtual attendance.

The conference will feature discussions on key findings, innovative strategies, and tools developed to promote gender equality in leadership across the EU. 

The conference is held in English.

The session aims to invite reflection on how teachers can integrate sustainable practices into curriculum, encouraging students to get involved with environmental and social issues. Innovative methodologies and good practices will be shared to inspire transformative education, capable of promoting a more conscious and responsible society.

Free and open to all Universidade Católica students, the webinar is aimed in particular at students entering higher education for the first time.

International Congress In Portuguese - Speaking, Living and Thinking in the 21st Century

The Research Centre on Peoples and Cultures (CEPCEP) organizes, after the edition of a volume dedicated to the theme, on November 27 and 28, 2023, the International Congress In Portuguese - Speaking, Living and Thinking in the 21st Century, which aims to reflect on speaking, living and thinking in the 21st century having as matrix the Portuguese-speaking cultures, in varied and different expressions.

The Congress, which will be held in a face-to-face and online format, intends to contribute to the diversification and complexification of themes such as the global language.

Researchers from all over the world are invited to submit papers for presentation and discussion at the Congress.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

Proposals should be sent in the form of an abstract, between 300 and 500 words, in Portuguese, to the address cepcep@ucp.pt.

Exceptionally, non-Portuguese speaking researchers may submit abstracts in English. If the paper is accepted for presentation, in English, the author will have to send a version of the abstract in Portuguese.

The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2023.

The event will feature a presentation by Anne Cova, from the Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Universidade de Lisboa, and Regina Tavares da Silva, Politician, researcher and international expert on women's human rights.

The moderator will be Fernando Ilharco, President of the Centro de Estudos dos Povos e Culturas de Expressão Portuguesa.

UCP4SUCCESS Webinar: How to Promote Active Learning with 1st Year Undergraduate Students?

UCP4SUCCESS has launched a new Cycle of Webinars, especially aimed at professors who teach 1st year undergraduates.

The first session is entitled: ‘How to Promote Active Learning with 1st Year Undergraduates? Strategies for a Promising Start’ and will take place on 11 December between 2pm and 3pm. 

In this webinar, Rita Tavares, from CLIL | Católica Learning Innovation Lab, will discuss the concept of Active Learning in a continuum, and what this implies for the student, helping professors maximise the success of learning in students' academic lives.

It will also analyse the characteristics of the ‘ideal student’ and present strategies for a promising start, with a focus on pedagogical practices that favour success from the first steps in higher education.
