The Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising the «Artificial Intelligence and Ethics» conference on June 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in Room 131, at the UCP headquarters in Lisbon, broadcast online.

Given by Paolo Benanti, Professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, the conference is an initiative of the Postdoc-Fellowship Program in Integral Human Development and CLIL - Católica Learning Innovation Lab.

III Global Symposium Uniservitate

The III Global Symposium Uniservitate will take place on 27 and 28 October in Rome.

Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, will be one of the speakers at the opening session of the Symposium, which will take place on 27 October at 8am. This session will also include the participation of Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Francesco Bonini (Rector of LUMSA), Carmela Di Agresti (LUMSA), Richard Brosse (Portfolio Manager Vital Catholic Thought, Porticus), María Rosa Tapia (Uniservitate programme-CLAYSS) and moderated by Enrique Ochoa (Executive Director, CLAYSS).

On 28 October, at 8am, the Service-Learning experience of UCP will be presented in the session "Service-learning and Global Compact on Education".

In the scope of the Uniservitate Award 2022, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa will receive an honorable mention for the project "Capacitar para proteger", on the second day of the Symposium. The project is part of the CApS project: Universidade Católica and Service-Learning: Innovation and Social Responsibility, which started in January 2020 involving the 4 campi of the University.

The UNISERVITATE Award seeks to promote quality Service-Learning practices carried out by Catholic Higher Education Institutions, recognizing experiences that represent effective contributions to the solution of socio-environmental problems, identified and addressed in solidarity with organizations and community members.

Católica Medical School is organising the final seminar of the Clinical Bioethics Curricular Unit: "The Implication of Bioethics in Medical Practice: Cultivating Values, Principles, Norms and Duties as Essential Medical Competences", on 9 July at 12.45pm.

The seminar aims to explore the essential role of bioethics in the field of medical practice and will feature presentations by students from the first year of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine.

Specifically designed for first-year students in the MIM program, this seminar aligns with the Labs classes.

During the seminar, students will explore the following topics:

  • Moral Responsibility
  • Ethical Challenges in the Physician-Patient Relationship
  • Research Ethics with Adult Human Subjects
  • Research Ethics with Pediatric Human Subjects

The Postdoctoral Program: Integral Human Development, of Católica Doctoral School organizes the Conference "Vivere per fare vivere: futuro umano e bene comune", on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall.

Donatella Abignente, professor of Moral Theology at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology of Southern Italy, Section of St. Louis, Naples, and coordinator of the area of Theology of Christian Life, is the guest speaker for this lecture.

Peter Hanenberg, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Universidade Católica and Dean of Católica Doctoral School, is the guest speaker at the Eutopos Conference "Cognition, Culture and Creativity: the Search for Beauty", organised by Brotéria in partnership with CADOS.

Taking place on 19 October, from 7pm to 8.30pm, the session will be held at Brotéria in Lisbon and proposes two paths in the search for beauty: one that looks at the cultural nature of its meaning and another that traces the intersection between perception and conception.

This session is part of a cycle of three conferences centred on the topics of the "search for good agriculture", the "search for beauty" and the "study of what helps us progress in our moral life as a result of community involvement."
