Gut Power Conference

The Católica Medical School organises the "Gut Power" conference on 16 March at 12 pm, with the participation of Emeran Mayer, Director of the G. Oppenheimer Centre for Neurobiology of Stress and Resilience, and co-director of CURE: Digestive Diseases Research Centre.

Paula Ravasco and Teresa Nazareth will be responsible for moderating.

Emeran Mayer is recognized as one of the leading investigators in the world of brain-gut microbiome interactions in GI disorders, including functional and inflammatory bowel disorders, and ingestive behavior/obesity. The National Institutes of Health have continuously funded him since 1989.

Conference "Transatlantic Women’s Networks"

The Research Centre for Communication and Culture of the Faculty of Human Sciences (FCH), UCP, organises the conference "Transatlantic Women's Networks: Cultural Engagement from the 19th Century to the Present" on 11 and 12 May 2023.

The event aims to discuss, map and (re)situate networks and circuits of intellectual and cultural exchange, established by women across the Atlantic, from the 19th century to the present. Adriana Martins, professor at FCH, Paulina Chiziane, writer, Anna Faedrich from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Harris Feinsod from Northwestern University are the keynote-speakers.

JMJ. Papa Francisco vai encontrar-se em Lisboa com jovens refugiados

O Papa Francisco vai encontrar-se em Lisboa com jovens refugiados a viver no nosso país. O encontro vai decorrer na Universidade Católica.

“É um encontro do Papa com jovens refugiados, exilados em Portugal, que vieram para Portugal ao abrigo do ‘Fundo Papa Francisco’ e vai-se encontrar com eles na Universidade Católica”, avançou a reitora da UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil, na noite de terça-feira, na RTP.

De acordo com Isabel Capeloa Gil, no encontro estarão "estudantes iranianos, afegãos, sírios, ucranianos e nigerianos que vão dar o seu testemunho do que significa estar a estudar em Portugal, ter uma hipótese de voltar a aspirar, ter uma vida, de criar uma vida, de ter um futuro com paz e de voltar aos seus países”.

JMJ. Festival da Juventude vai ter 38 conferências

O Festival da Juventude da JMJ Lisboa vai incluir quase quatro dezenas de conferências. De 1 a 6 de agosto, vão ser 38 os momentos reservados a esta categoria, que irão e abordar temas ligados à vocação, à missão, aos desafios da sociedade atual, à cidadania e ao mundo profissional e vão estar espalhadas por diversos espaços.

As conferências serão em vários idiomas e conduzidas por diversos países”, informou a organização do evento esta quarta-feira, através do seu site.

Os temas serão diversos. Um deles “passa pela maneira como os jovens católicos podem manifestar a fé através da sua profissão em diferentes áreas como a educação, saúde e economia. Com especial atenção para a Economia de Francisco, que vai estar em debate na Universidade Católica de Lisboa com especialistas no tema”.

Two Case Studies: the Lisbon Earthquake and the Seven Years' War", given by Shmuel Feiner (Bar Ilan University, Israel), on 5 June, 5.30 p.m.

Organized in partnership with the Alberto Benveniste Chair in Sephardic Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, the conference will take place in both face-to-face and virtual mode.
