Exhibition: "Por ser a terra muito calmosa"

Thursday, July 01, 2021 - 14:00

Galeria Fundação Amélia de Mello | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

"Por ser a terra muito calmosa" (Because the land is very calm) is a solo exhibition by Rouzbeh Akhbari. It starts from a multifaceted research project entitled "Tales from the Garden of Zãr" and then unfolds in several formal and conceptual layers.

The exhibition reflects an elaborate framing of the influence of globalisation - and its logical and cultural dimensions - on the re-evaluation of the past, present and future of peoples, nations and cultures; it potentiates the restructuring of theories, narratives and histories.

The exhibition is curated by Luísa Santos and Fabíola Mauricio and can be visited every day, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery.

This exhibition has free entrance.

"Equity" Exhibition | Reflection on Human Rights

Friday, June 24, 2022 - 14:00

Biblioteca João Paulo II | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

Católica Doctoral School organises the exhibition "Equity" that invites to reflect on Human Rights, at the John Paul II Library, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, from 24 June to 20 September 2022.

Using a hybrid format, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect through different media. The CADOS' DHI programme researcher, Carlos Barros, adds that "visitors may interact with the works exhibited in the physical and digital spaces, so that equity is not only in the visit - rather, in the exchange they can bring to the pieces and spread the discussion to more people".

The visit includes photographic works of the Duarte Tarré Association and testimonies from CADOS' Integral Human Development team, as a reflection on the need for engagement in Human Rights for an Integral Human Development. For the researcher, this path translates a World with a connection and peace.

Exhibition “¿De qué casa eres?”

Wednesday, April 19, 2023 - 14:00

Galeria Fundação Amélia de Mello | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

"¿De qué casa eres? Los niños de Rusia. Episodios de un cotidiano #4" is the most recent exhibition at the Fundação Amélia de Mello Gallery, at the headquarters of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Lisbon.

The exhibition, which is open to the public until 26 May, brings together works by the artist Ana Pérez-Quiroga.

"The autobiographical project, which the artist began in 2016, and to which she is systematically adding new readings and presented here in its fourth part - or, in Ana Pérez-Quiroga’s words, its fourth episode - pays homage to the story of her mother, Ângela Petra," explains the curator, Luísa Santos.

Ângela Petra is one of the children who, during the Spanish Civil War, were sent to the Soviet Union without their families.

Integrated in the program of Cultura@Católica, "¿De qué casa eres?" is sponsored by the Fundação Amélia de Mello, Innovarisk, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Jopinto, Research Centre for Communication and Culture and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.

Visit the exhibition from Monday to Friday, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Fundação Amélia de Mello Gallery.

Vale a pena contar a história destes desenhos.

Wednesday, May 15, 2024 - 18:00

Galeria Fundação Amélia de Mello | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

On 15 May, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) inaugurated the exhibition "Vidro Animístico. visões multidimensionais" (Animistic Glass: multidimensional visions) at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery.

The exhibition by artist Igor Jesus, curated by Luísa Santos, features seven works, including photographs and videos, produced using handmade lenses. The series of images shows objects with undulating shapes, in black and white, created through effects of light and optical illusion.

"I make the lenses to produce these images, these deformations. It's as if I were sculpting with light, controlling the light to be able to model the images," explains the artist, guaranteeing that the effect created in the photographs does not come from digital manipulation.

"Vidro Animístico. visões multidimensionais" (Animistic Glass: multidimensional visions) is on show at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery, at the UCP headquarters in Lisbon, and can be visited every working day between 2pm and 5pm.
