IX Luso-Brazilian Symposium on Religious Studies

Tuesday, January 21, 2025 - 11:00

Sala de Exposições | Edifício da Biblioteca | UCP | Lisboa - Sede

Among the multiple characteristics of contemporary culture, in its global and local articulations, the process of digitalisation is undoubtedly one of the most prominent. As expected, the impact of this feature is clearly transversal, affecting all dimensions of culture at different levels, from the simplest to the most complex, directly, or indirectly.

Since religion, in its most diverse configurations, is also, among other things, a cultural phenomenon, it could not escape the impact of the digital, in all its registers. The academic study of the plural experiences and manifestations of religion finds an immense field of work, much of which remains to be explored.

In this sense, the ninth edition of the Luso-Brazilian Symposium on Religious Studies, to be held from 21 to 23 January 2025, in a hybrid mode (on-site and online), aims to bring together contributions that come close to this perspective of study, encouraging research on this unavoidable component of contemporary life.

Participation is free.

On-site sessions will take place at the Lisbon Campus of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
