The Centre for the Study of Religious History organises, within the Conference Cycle "Representations of Judaism in Art, History and Literature", the conference "The Jews of the 18th Century. Two Case Studies: the Lisbon Earthquake and the Seven Years' War", given by Shmuel Feiner (Bar Ilan University, Israel), on 5 June, 5.30 p.m.

Organized in partnership with the Alberto Benveniste Chair in Sephardic Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, the conference will take place in both face-to-face and virtual mode.

Colloquium "ReliMM - Religion in the Multiple Modernities". 8th edition

The Colloquium "ReliMM - Religion in Multiple Modernities" is an annual meeting that brings together researchers who study religion and religions in the context of multiple modernities, with a view to contributing to an interdisciplinary approximation of those who share this research problematic, facilitating the creation of contexts of network circulation and cooperation.

The UCP-CEHR is the co-organising institution of this event which takes place from 22 to 23 June.

European Heritage Days 2024 | Visit to the Historical Archives of the Lisbon Patriarchate

On 20 September, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm, there will be a visit to the Historical Archives of the Lisbon Patriarchate.

The theme ‘Cardinal Lercaro and modern religious architecture’ will take place on 15 May at 19:00.

Seminar | What a reliquary chest can reveal to us: the case of the reliquary chest of Prior Luís Vasques da Cunha (15th century)

The Centre for Studies in Religious History is organising the Religious History Seminar, cycle 2024, on the theme ‘Santidade à portuguesa: da inventio às relíquias e do culto à história | O que nos pode revelar um cofre relicário: o caso do cofre relicário do prior D. Luís Vasques da Cunha (15th century), on 21 October at 18h00.

This event will be attended by Liliana Sousa (FLUP), João Luís Durães (FLUP) and Helena Osswald (FLUP-CITCEM; UCP-CEHR).

This cycle, organised in partnership with the Cabido Portucalense and with the support of the University of Porto's CITCEM, consists of 12 sessions between February and December 2024 (with an interruption in August).

The sessions are free to attend (although prior registration is required), at the Porto Cathedral and broadcast online.

As part of the seminar ‘Citizenship, democracy and reformism’, the Centre of Religious History Studies is organising the session ‘Theatre in the revolution’, with the participation of Roberto Merino (ESAP), on 20 March at 5pm, in a hybrid format.

The Citizenship, Democracy and Reform Seminar has been taking place since 2022 as part of the research project ‘25 April: permanences, ruptures and recompositions’ and will be active until 2026. Its aims are: to study the problem of ‘25 April, permanences, ruptures and recompositions’, seeking to take stock of the history 50 years on: what is known and what is not known; to promote meetings and encourage common reflection between researchers in the field of Contemporary Religious History; to allow new research to be presented.
