The Católica Medical School is organising the seminar ‘From Mechanisms to Medicine: The Role of NIS in Hard-to-Treat Thyroid Cancers’, which will take place on 19 December at 12.30pm.

The seminar will be attended by Ana Luísa Silva, PhD and presented by Bruno Cardoso.

Ana Luísa Ribeiro da Silva is a Portuguese academic and molecular endocrinology and oncology researcher. She holds a doctorate in biochemistry, specializing in molecular genetics, from the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, and has extensive expertise in cellular signaling and tumor biology.

On April 27 at 2 pm (Lisbon time), Católica Medical School will host the event “Being a Doctor in the USA”. 

Francisco Alexandrino will carry out a general framework of the practice of medicine in the USA from the perspective of an IMG (International Medical Graduate), addressing the following topics: 

- Organization of specialties 

- Reasons to pursue a career in the US 

- Necessary steps for certification and respective timings 

- Difficulties and financial cost, comparison with Portugal 

- Highly importance of having good grades in the steps and research experience  

Catolica Medical School is organising Open Day 2023, on May 6.

Aimed at students from 10th to 12th grade, the Open Day aims to present the methodology of Problem-based leaning, as well as providing interactive classes and activities of the SKillsLab, ResearchLab and AnatomyLab laboratories.

Católica Medical School of the Universidade Católica, organises the Fit to Fight seminar, on 6th July at 10am, with the participation of Liana Poulia, Assistant Professor of Clinical Dietetics at the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition of the Agricultural University of Athens, and moderated by Paula Ravasco.

Católica Medical School is organising a welcome weekend for new students from 15 to 17 September.

Students will have fun moments to get to know their classmates better, as well as activities organised by the teachers to develop various skills that will be crucial for future doctors.

There will also be a social solidarity activity with Just a Change, where students will be the "key piece" for the reconstruction of an institution.

Católica Medical School is organizing the seminar "Cerebral Venous Thrombosis - Shining a light on a neglected type of stroke", which will take place on October 26 at 12:30 pm.

The seminar will be attended by Diana de Sousa (MD, PhD) and presented by Victor Gil.

Diana Aguiar de Sousa, a distinguished neurologist from Portugal, serves as a Neurologist at Lisbon Central University Hospital. Additionally, she holds the position of Professor at the Faculdade de Medicina Universidade de Lisboa and practices neurology at the Center for Cardiovascular Prevention and Thrombosis in Hospital da Luz Torres de Lisboa.

Católica Medical School Student's Union, in partnership with Católica Medical School, ABC Indoor Padel Sintra, and the Social Responsibility Office, will organize a Padel Tournament in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This event represents an exciting blend of sports, fun, and solidarity.

This tournament is open to members of the academic community, including students, faculty, and staff, and your friends and family who wish to join this noble cause. It's an opportunity to unite efforts and contribute to the fight against breast cancer.

The tournament has been planned to accommodate players of all levels, from beginners to professionals, providing everyone with a rewarding experience. Moreover, throughout the day, we will raise funds for the Portuguese League Against Cancer, where each contribution will make a significant difference in the fight against breast cancer.
