Professor of the Nursing School is a member of the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences

Lurdes Martins, Professor at the Nursing School (Lisbon) of the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and researcher in the areas of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Palliative Care and Humanisation in Health, took office as a new Member of the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences (CNECV), the National Commission for Data Protection and the Council of Justices of the Peace.

The ceremony took place on 12 October, where the new members of the CNECV were sworn in before Augusto Santos Silva, President of the Assembly of the Republic.

The CNECV, as an independent consultative body working within the Assembly of the Republic, has the mission of analysing ethical issues raised by scientific progress in the fields of biology, medicine or health in general and the life sciences.
