Católica shines in Banco de Portugal competition
Teams from Universidade Católica Portuguesa shone in the 1st edition of the "My Financial Future" competition, organised by Banco de Portugal and the CFA Society Portugal.
The team from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CLSBE), made up of David Couto de Sousa, Leonor Garcia da Rocha and Tiago Freitas, won first place, standing out among the 124 competing teams. Their creative and educational proposal, which covered topics such as personal financial management and investment decisions, was presented in a role-play of a consultation with ‘Doctor Literacy’.
As a prize, they received a sum of money and the opportunity to visit the Bank of Portugal, as well as recording a podcast about their experience.
‘This competition has allowed us to contribute to the promotion of financial literacy in Portugal. We believe that Portuguese society has a long way to go in this area and this ‘small’ step is already a great source of pride. We congratulate the Bank of Portugal and the CFA Society Portugal for this initiative, which we hope will be repeated for many years to come among young people,’ said the CLSBE students.
The competition, in which around 400 students from 27 institutions took part, had its final at the Money Museum in Lisbon and was attended by important figures from the financial sector, such as the Governor of the Bank of Portugal, Mário Centeno.
