Católica Porto Business School student honoured with Banco de Portugal Prize
Maria Figueira Verdelho Barreto Xavier, from the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, has been recognized by the Bank of Portugal with the Professor Jacinto Nunes Award. This prestigious award is given annually to the student with the best final grade point average in Economics at selected educational establishments.
The ceremony took place on January 20 in the Nave of the Money Museum and was attended by the Governor of the Bank of Portugal, Mário Centeno, the Vice-Governors, Clara Raposo and Luís Máximo dos Santos, Francisca Guedes de Oliveira, lecturer at Católica Porto Business School and member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Portugal, and the administrators Helena Adegas and Rui Pinto.
The Professor Jacinto Nunes Prize is awarded annually by Banco de Portugal with the aim of recognizing the merit of the best undergraduate students in Economics, selecting higher education institutions whose average of the last candidate admitted was equal to or higher than 140 points. Created in 1987 as the “Banco de Portugal Prize” and renamed in 2016 in honor of Professor Manuel Jacinto Nunes, the award pays tribute to one of the most illustrious figures of the Portuguese economy in the 20th century.
